I have worked in many different business industries over the past 15 years (retail, manufacturing, financial services, educational research) and even had my own business as an entrepreneur, and all of this variety has helped make me who I am today. I don’t just create a design for my clients, I listen closely to what their goals and expectations are for their product and what they want to communicate. I build that into what I design for them. Simplicity and a clear targeted message looks simple, but it takes a lot of hard work to make it look simple without losing your message. Your message must communicate effectively in a few seconds, or you lose your audience. I love this challenge and I enjoy exceeding my client’s expectations. Bronze Brass Ring

This logo won a Bronze Brass Ring Award in 2011.

This is the very first logo I ever created. This was a lesson in abstraction. Over 100 sharpie sketches were done until I got the imagery right. I incorporated figure-ground, continuation, and negative space into this design.

This advertisement for Gorilla Glue won several awards:

My concept for this ad was based on the question, “what do people use glue for?”. That is a very open question, and the uses are endless, and very personal based on who is doing the gluing. That determined my tagline, “You dream it up, we’ll make it stick”. Then how do I visualize this? Something that most people would never have dreamed of….

This is part of a series for the Witte Museum children’s summer science camp event. I wanted this series to be mostly typographical, with minimal imagery. The result is a multi-layered message with lots of white space. I knew I wanted to play with the name “Witte”, and that my target audience needed to be mainly the parents, and secondarily the kids. This design had many previous lives.

This won a merit in the 2010 Brass Ring Design awards.

This showcases my typography skills, as well as my eye for good images to use. As a student with no budget, and no photographer, I was left with stock photos or books to use as my images for this book layout. Images can really make or break your design.
